I am hosting my first ever giveaway on this blog. I would like to hear about the adventure that you are planning for this summer or just dreaming... (it doesn't hurt to have a dream). The winner (randomly picked by me) will receive a working spyglass necklace to bring along to his/her next adventure! The last day to share your adventure and be eligible for the giveaway is June 30.
I will share my adventure that had taken place this March in Southern Taiwan. I grew up in Taipei and had rarely visited southern part of Taiwan. This time during my short 3 weeks stay, I visited Tainan twice where this photo was taken.
I will be sharing more photos we took during our stay soon. For now, I can only tell you that the weather was warm and the foods were hot and delicious. I am secretly planning our next trip. It's to visit Paris and a countryside near Bern this November when there are less tourists and no craft fairs here for me to vend.
Oh man, that is beautiful! My husband and I are traveling with his parents (which is adventure enough!) on a road trip to South Dakota :) We'll see how it goes! I love all of your designs! They are so lovely <3
ReplyDeleteMy friend and I are planning a camping trip on Fire Island in New York. It should be interesting since my hyper doggy will be accompanying. This necklace would be the perfect and stylish way to keep an eye on her ;)
ReplyDeleteSora, I am so upset with Treasury East on Etsy and even more upset about BP oil I decided to learn how to Tango, Lesson # 3 in a few days. There is a famous song "Is that All There Is?" by the legendary Peggy Lee At the end of some sad tales in her life, in the song she decides to "Let's Just Go Dancing" It's never too late to learn to tango. I will be 61 in 6 weeks. Dance therapy is my traveling this summer.
ReplyDeleteYou already know how much I love your work !
On the California coast, on a beach in the quaint town of Capitola, there is a large rock. I love to sit on this rock and just look out at the horizon. I find myself thinking like a 6-year old -- How far does the ocean go anyway? What is on the other side? It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, and your spyglass necklace would help me see almost to the other side!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you got to visit Taiwan. And the trip to France sounds like a lovely idea. We went to France in 2005 to go hiking on their long-distance walking trips and it was fabulous. No glorious vacations planned this year, I regret to say, except to visit nearby family members. We dream of going to East Africa, esp Tanzania. I love this spy glass. What a fabulous giveaway idea. Thank you.

Hi Sora, I went on quite an adventure a year ago september. A couple friends and I went to London and I was 4 months pregnant at the time. Some people tried to talk me out of it but I knew that it was a trip worth taking. My adventure was so wonderful and fearless that i felt liberated. So, now that my little man (Wren) is 3 months old, I tell him the story of how mommy took a trip to London and he came along with me.:) what a wonderful adventure indeed.:) Happy Travels to you:)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love to travel! But we are mostly staying home and working on the garden this summer, though we have a short trip planned to coastal Maine, where we have a long-standing tradition of meeting up with family. But I am dreaming of travelling ... yes! To Switzerland ... I have always wanted to stay in a Swiss chalet and go walking in the Alps! Also, I find thoughts of going to North Africa (esp. Morocco) peppering my dreams. I love Moroccan food, mmmm.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for your updates on your most recent trip, and wishing you a 'bon voyage' in the Fall. froggybogg (at) gmail (dot) com
Biggest Adventure: joining over 20K people, on one glorious SF October day, and say the same message, "Go Team"! The Nike Marathon was a truly amazing experience. Not only did I learn a lot about myself (converting from a couch potato to an endurance athlete) but learned that the journey for those living with cancer and their family friends witnessing it is a testament to the human spirit. I lost a good friend to a rare form of Leukemia and my farther to prostate cancer. Anything I can do to help bring a cure and raise awareness is my adventure for not only this summer but all year long. So during your travels if you see a person wearing green and purple and a jersey that says, Team In Training. Yell "Go Team" and they'll know the message behind it (Train.Endure.Achieve.Matter).
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer!
We took a cross-country road trip last year, something I had always wanted to do. The excuse was that we were moving clear across the country, and the highlight was getting snowed in on May 1st in Laramie, Wyoming. (We were camping the whole way, and a lot of the parks weren't even open yet, but that didn't stop us!)
ReplyDeleteWe took a northern route, and now I am dreaming about taking a southern route.
I love this little spyglass, how kind of you to offer it up as a giveaway prize.
Wow, I should do this more often so I get to hear great tales or dreams of yours. The winner of this giveaway is localcolorist! Congrats Nancy and Happy 61st Birthday. I've always wanted to learn salsa but there are too many excuses for me not taking the initiative. My 4 yr old boy did ballet lessons for last winter in Berkeley and he loved it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sora. I am so excited and thrilled to receive the spyglass. When I was very young and made hand painted silk scarves I had a dream of owning a three masted sailing ship that would be a traveling fabric painting school and international fabric trading schooner. I painted ships on paper or silk and have yet to sail on the sea. Tango is like sailing on the floor and I love my new passion.I have a wonderful teacher,in San Francisco, Sonja Riket, from Belgium
ReplyDeleteHello Sora, I am a fan of your jewlery work! I am a aspiring nurse at Seattle Pacific University. As of now it is very hard to travel on a meager student budge. However, if the funds were available I would love to travel to Japan and help those in need. I would love to see Japan in it's beauty and in the meanwhile hope those in need. Khloe Le from Seattle, WA.
ReplyDeleteHi Sora, I love your jewelry! I am currently a freshman at Cornell University, so the past year has definitely been an adventure for me! For the summer, I'm hoping to set up my own etsy shop, which is something I've always wanted to do.
